I've had one of those days where I find myself dreaming of selling everything and moving to the middle of nowhere. (It started at 5am with Charlie coming in and saying "I can't lie on my back" and promptly throwing up all over me. How can you go wrong after that?)
It's a well-formed dream. About 20 acres or so, preferably in the general vicinity of the Hunter Valley. The living quarters would be centred around the uber kitchen - a huge, high-ceilinged room with a gourmet kitchen, massive dining room and plenty of sitting area. I can just about see the kitchen.
Each family gets their own apartment, of their own design. We're thinking a creek running between them all with cute little bridges. Covered walkways to the central area so that there's no impediment to socialising.
There would be a huge shed, or maybe even several sheds, for Crash.
There would be a swimming pool.
There would be chooks, a vegie patch, maybe some berries, definitely some fruit trees. It would all be as sustainable as we can possibly manage.
And there would be broadband. Good broadband, not just satellite.
There are a raft of things we could do to support ourselves. The idea of tacking a DipEd on the end of my current degree is inspired in part by being able to teach part time when we move to the Uber House. We've thought of hosting weddings, teaching stitching retreats (this would have nothing to do with me), building clocks and no doubt 379 other things.
Nerida has also devised a fence of such incredible awesomeness nary a slithering creature will show its face within the residential compound. (Once Nerida's fence is built, it will be a compound!)
So I'm wondering, what's in your Uber Dream? If you have ever considered a tree change, sea change, commune life or otherwise doing a bolt, what's in your fantasy?
Oh, and if you're reading this on Facebook, would you mind hopping over to the blog to comment? If I get any responses I'd love to keep them for future days like today. Thanks.

Dreams
Now, I know that other people's dreams are just too boring for words, so I'm just going to have to bore you. These two dreams seemed to need recording.
The first involved a reciprocal profession of love between myself and someone I haven't seen for years (and don't harbour a heartfelt love for), promptly followed by him disappearing from my life forever. This is not amazing. What was strange is that this emotional drama played out over the backdrop of getting ready for a pole dancing party organised by Mim. A very sophisticated pole dancing party I might add - even with red feather boas. Don't ask me how forever fits into getting ready for a party, but there you go. It was a very fine party as well.
The second one involved me being invited to one of my clients' corporate functions. When Crash found out about it, he gatecrashed it as well. It was worth gatecrashing - it was in a bar which was a floating vortex. You floated in the outer parts of the vortex, and tipped your drink into the air and drank it as it floated past in tasty, wobbly, globules. Once you got sucked to the middle, there was a funky escalator to take you back to the top of the vortex. Unfortunately I couldn't stay long because I had to get home before the kids woke up (since Crash was there too).
So Mim, a theme for next year's Christmas party? :)
And I want to go to that bar.
But really, what's with still having to go home and look after the kids in a dream???? Good thing DOCS don't monitor your dreams, since I had left them at home all night alone...

Dreams
Just because it just popped into my head for some reason - last night I did not dream about an older girl child, I dreamed about buying dark chocolate coated coffee beans instead of milk*. Oh the humanity! Perhaps I should see someone about these nightmares.
*I don't know why I prefer milk, it seems that dark should be better, but I definitely prefer milk chocolate with my coffee beans.

Hello subconscious, what are you playing at?
Over the last month or two, apart from the normal array of horror flicks and random nonsense, there has been a recurring theme in my dreams. I am not a person who has predictive dreams* (and a good thing too, given how often I get shot dead in them), so this is either a weird statistical anomaly or my subconscious is trying to tell me something. I just can't imagine what.
In an amazing assortment of dreams recently (happy, nightmare, bland, you name it) I have had an extra child. Not another baby, a girl, older than Elissa and definitely not my biological offspring. She is someone I have permanent custody of for reasons unknown.
I'm pretty sure I don't have a latent desire to raise some random child, I definitely don't want four of them. I am baffled.
*With the (possibly coincidental) exception of a single dream in each pregnancy telling me the sex of the baby.
